Artists Plan: In order for me to create a mix of two different anime characters, captain america and spider-man, I had to do some research on what they looked like and how I can combine their uniform together to make a new character. I made a sketch of my first idea on how I can combine the two together. I took the suit of Spider Man, added the shield of Captain America with the spider logo on the shield instead of a star, and added a belt with stars.Even though I haven't done it in my sketch yet, the two super heroes having the same colors, red and blue, helped me out a lot since I was only working with pencil. That also helped me figure out that I wanted to do a mix between these two since it would be easier.

Artists Reflect: After finishing my sketch, I thought that i left to much empty space. To fix this problem, I cropped my image from the head to just the waist instead of the whole body. I also found that I didn't represent the two heroes evenly, so I added more of Captain America's suit to my overall artwork. Aside from the actual image, I kept wondering to myself if I was actually representing the theme. I was actually holding back a little bit until Mrs. Barnett, my art teacher, came over to my area and cleared it with me that I was on the right track since I didn't actually create these two heroes. I just used two already created people and fuse them together to make a different piece of art.

My whole life I have repeatedly struggled finding my creative side because I could not find new, original things to come up with. When coming up with ideas, I always had to base my ideas off of someone else's ideas, defeating the purpose of being creative. Watching a video ( http://on.ted.com/FergusonRemix) made me realize how common copying or stealing ideas is in the modern world, especially with artists. The guy, Kirby Ferguson, mentioned a famous quote by Pablo Picasso- "Good artists copy, great artists steal. He also believes that everything is a remix, meaning that good pieces of work are only changes to previous works of art leading to the conclusion that there is no such thing as original art.

Part B.
​Appropriation - Using already existing images and making little to no change to the original image.
Parody - Using a humorous imitation of the original piece of art work.
​Intertextuality - Referencing other existing pieces of art as the base of a new piece of art.
While they all use different ways in creating a new piece of art from the influence of the original piece of art, they all have are the same by using an already existing piece of art, eliminating the idea of original, creative art work.

On the left is the famous painting Edvard munch, The Scream, and on the right is parody of the famous painting portraying Homer Simpson from the comedy TV show, The Simpsons. 

On the left is the famous painting Mona Lisa​, and on the right is a parody of the painting portraying the same woman, but with a cow head.

On the left is the famous painting The Old Guitarist, and on the right is an example of appropriation. As you can see, the painting on the right is the exact same painting as on the left with only minor changes with the coloring.

On the left is an oil on canvas called Starry Night, and on the right is another example of appropriation. The only difference between the new and the original piece of art is that the new art work has a split at the top of the tall object on the left of the art piece with an eyeball as one of the stars.

On the left s a photo of one of the scenes from the movie Star Wars, and on the right is an example on intertextuality and parody in the comedy TV show Family Guy. It uses intertextuality by referencing the base of this episode entirely off one of the movies in the Star Wars saga. It is also considered a parody because it represents a funny imitation to the original movie.  

On the left is the famous painting of The Creation Of Adam, and on the right is another example of intertextuality. This movie's, Bruce Almighty, cover shows the same image from the painting by Michelangelo representing that the movie will depict a person being touched by God as did Adam did in the original art piece.
